Welcome Coach Franklin!

The State College Quarterback Club would like to welcome Coach Franklin to the Penn State family!  We are all  looking for an exciting football season!

Coach Franklin was born in Langhorne, Pennsylvania.   He attended Neshaminy High School in Langhorne, and went to college at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, where he played as a quarterback all four years. In that position, he set seven school records and was a Division II player of the year nominee in 1994. Sports Illustratednamed him a National Player of the Week that season. He earned a Bachelors of Science degree in psychology in 1995.

James Franklin was Vanderbilt’s head coach for three seasons, leading them  to back-to-back nine-win seasons for the first time in the program’s history. He compiled a 24-15 record, including bowl wins in the past two seasons. He is the 16th person to be named coach for the  Nittany Lions.
